James Cameron wasn’t kidding when he said most of the characters would be back for the sequels to Avatar. According to Deadline, there’s another actor who will be coming back for some more hot blue-on-blue action. The actor in question is Giovanni Ribisi, who portrayed the character of Parker Selfridge, who was one of the guys leading the Resources Development Administration.
If you don’t recall (it’s been a hot minute since the first Avatar), he was one of the main antagonists of the film who was leading the push for mining unobtanium from beneath the Na’vi’s homeland.
Sadly, there’s no word on what is role will be in the film — just as there’s no word on what anyone is doing in this film (the jury is still out on how several characters are getting resurrected), so like pretty much everything regarding these films, it’s all one big giant mystery.
The Avatar sequels will continue the story that started in the original 2009 film. Avatar started off with a modest, yet respectable opening, before going on to gross a record-breaking $2.79 billion worldwide. It’s a record that it still holds onto today, even in a world full of comic book movies and Star Wars pictures.
Enthusiasm has been relatively muted for this long-awaited sequel, but once production gets underway, and we start to get real details as to what the story will entail, we expect that to change.
Avatar 2 hits theaters on December 18, 2020.
