Fox's hit series Gotham is heading into its third season. Despite a mixed response from fans and critics, this one has managed to successfully carve out its little pre-Batman ecosystem -- an ecosystem that consists of many of his iconic villains coming into full effect long before little Brucie was big enough to don the cape and cowl.
Last season of Gotham had the ambitious subtitles "Rise of the Villains," and "Wrath of the Villains," and sure enough, the season certainly had its fair share of villains. Now, THR has shared with us a poster for Season 3 of the show, the first half of which will be subtitled "Mad City."
Check out the poster below:
The conclusion of Season 2 saw Hugo Strange releasing his human experiments on Gotham City, and it sounds like that will be the crux Season 3, and a part of the internal mythology of the world in how crime wove its way into the narrative of Gotham City.
Executive Producer John Stephens told THR:
"In season three you're really going to see how villains have taken up residence inside the city. The villains have become more and more a part of the fabric of the city of Gotham. It's less and less a police show like it was in season one. It's a natural continuation of that in season three."
