Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: James Gunn On Sly Stallone’s Character – The Hints Are Clear

When we first heard Sly Stallone would make an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, rumors began to fly. At first we actually hear he was seen in Ravager gear on a set audition, then we heard he could possibly be a Nova Corps member, and we have even heard he will be some time of cosmic entity. Director James Gunn, with a sly grin, has done nothing to dispel any of these rumors. Gunn is a master of intrigue, but in an interview with Yahoo! Movies he made an interesting statement.

“I think people will find out very, very soon. Look for clues and you will find out the character Sylvester Stallone plays. He’s a fantastic character. It’s a very important part of the Marvel cosmic universe.”

Woah! CALLING ALL INTERNET TRAILER SLEUTHS!

Is Gunn telling us that we have already seen him in a trailer, or perhaps in a photographed that was released? He just said he is a “very important part of the Marvel cosmic universe.” Gunn has already said that J’Son is not Peter Quill’s father, but what if J’Son is actually still in the film, and maybe became his adoptive father? I am boggled on this one, and today I actually do not have time to view every trailer, frame-by-frame, or look at every little thing Gunn or Stallone has said. But, I am sure someone has a day off, and I am calling on you, in the name of the Six Singularities, to find out who Sly is playing!

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will star Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon, and Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot.  It doesn’t stop there, as this film will be loaded with talent.  Kurt Russell will play Ego the Living Planet, Chris Sullivan is Taserface, Elizabeth Debicki is Mantis, oh and Sly Stallone will make an appearance after his Oscar-nominated performance in Creed.  Lets not forget that Glenn Close, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, and the Sons of Anarchy great Tommy Flannigan are in this as well.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
