Han Solo Spinoff: Actor Anthony Ingruber Addresses ‘Star Wars’ Question

From the very first second the Han Solo spinoff movie was announced, there were fans crying for Anthony Ingruber to be cast in the titular role. Who is Anthony Ingruber, you ask? The name may not be a household one. He’s rather young, and his filmography definitely on the shorter side of things, but one of his biggest claims to fame before his acting career took off was–you guessed it–Harrison Ford impressions on YouTube.

If you haven’t seen the one impression video that has fans losing their minds, take a look at it below:

Admittedly, I’m kind of a sour puss on this one. Simply put, I don’t think the man is acting in the video. He’s just doing an impression–and trying too hard, in my opinion. That being said, the man seemed to do something right, as he starred in this year’s “Age of Adaline” film. Wanna guess what is role was? That’s right, a YOUNG HARRISON FORD. And according to Ingruber, it was because of that YouTube video.

“It was such a crazy turn of events that the director of Age of Adaline, Lee Toland Krieger stumbled upon my Youtube videos, in particular being the Harrison Ford one of course. After a Skype chat with him and a live audition, he offered me the part. It was a very strange, “one in a million sort of shot.” The odds of Harrison Ford playing that guy, then meeting that guy, and the guy being me was just crazy but really wonderful.”

While I haven’t had a chance to see “Age of Adaline” myself, even I have to admit that things seem to be coming up Ingruber. At the very least, someone at Lucasfilm or Disney have to be aware of the kid at this point. But will he be the one to play Han Solo? In an interview with Monkey Fighting Robots, Ingruber comments on that very subject.

“Well that’s the thing about this industry you can’t really say anything until it is time to announce something. Again, I’m not saying there is anything to announce. I’m definitely trying my hardest to at least get a shot at it , because it would be amazing and it’s something I’d love to do. I’m working towards making it happen, fingers crossed.”

It’s no confirmation by any means, but if the man had nothing to hide, I feel like he would’ve said it outright. I’m not saying he will be the next Han Solo, but he does seem to be hiding something–an audition, a conversation, something. Regardless of my opinion on the impression, it’s great to see talent rise through the ranks like this. Will that video somehow catapult him all the way into one of the most iconic roles in film history? We’ll have to wait and see.

Do you think Ingruber deserves to be cast at Han Solo in the upcoming Phil Lord and Chris Miller-directed picture? Let us know in the comments!
