While last year’s Suicide Squad movie may have been received less than perfectly by general audiences, there is no denying that Harley Quinn came out as one of the shining beacons of the movie. Over the course of the film, actress Margot Robbie managed a portrayal that was both sympathetic, yet fittingly insane.
Now, it sounds like Warner Bros. wants to take things to the next level. According to Deadline, the studio is planning an adult animated action-comedy Harley Quinn series. The series would stream on their upcoming DC-Branded platform (where the upcoming live-action Titans series is also set to launch).
On board to executive produce and write are Powerless EPs Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey.
But here is the $10,000 question: will Margot Robbie actually voice? While that’s still up in the air, the outlet reports that Robbie is at the top of their wishlist to voice the character. She is expect to be approached, but we’ll see if she’ll be willing to take on 26 episodes worth of voice work. While she was great in Suicide Squad, voice work is a very different beast, and we can’t help but wonder if she’d be the best fit in that respect.
Harley Quinn is the third series to be greenlit for the upcoming platform. As mentioned above, there’s also the upcoming Titans series from Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, and Geoff Johns, and there’s also the revival of the animated Young Justice series.
