We seem to be returning to the well a lot these days. Between films like STAR WARS, CREED, and every comic book movie under the sun, we certainly seem to be living in an era of nostalgia. This is especially true for actor Harrison Ford. Ford returned to the role of Han Solo in last year's STAR WARS, and what's more, will return to another iconic character within the next few years: Indiana Jones.
While it's been widely joked about that Harrison Ford never really cared too much to play Han Solo, he seems to have had nothing but good things to say about playing Indiana Jones, the whip-toting archaeologist who a penchant for stumbling into the supernatural. Sure, the last film in the series, INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL was less than well-received, but fans are still all-too-intrigued to see Ford return to the character.
In a recent appearance on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, Harrison Ford talked about taking on Indy for the fifth time in his long career.
"I'll be ready -- I'm excited about it.
The opportunity to work with Steven [Spielberg] again on this character, a chance to revisit this character, which has brought pleasure to so many, not to mention me -- it's fun. It's great fun to play this character, it's great fun to work with Steven. I'm looking forward to it."
As we've reported previously, Ford will not be the only one returning to this franchise. Steven Spielberg has signed on to direct the film, and while story collaborator George Lucas looks to be sitting this one out, Disney has hired David Koepp, who is responsible for scripts for such films as JURASSIC PARK, and INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, among many others.
Some have expressed doubt that the film could live up to its name now that Indy is pushing 75 years of age, but given the success streak that Disney is on, one can hope that it will continue for this beloved franchise.
