Well, this is a bit of a downer. Marvel Studios has made it clear that the Disney+ series will have the same weight and attention as your average feature film, and given the main cast’s return to their roles, one can’t help but see them fulfilling that promise. But not everything can work out perfectly, can it, and the Hawkeye series has already faced its share of difficulties.

Star Jeremy Renner has faced some backlash in light of his personal woes, though his involvement may have been questionable for a while, it looks like he’ll be back to play Clint Barton. One other aspect I was looking forward to was actress Hailee Steinfeld, who supposedly signed on to play Kate Bishop, who would be carrying on the Hawkeye name.

Well, from her comments to the Radio Times, it sounds like her involvement may not be confirmed just yet.

“That’s not something that’s necessarily happening. We’re going to wait and find out, I guess.”

Keep in mind, this casting was never 100% confirmed, but it is odd that something that seemed to be on the cusp of acceptance in September still hasn’t been ironed out. That being said, we do know that Steinfeld is currently involved in the series Dickinson for Apple TV+, so it may be a simple scheduling issue and could hinge on whether or not that show gets a second season.
