*BEWARE! This Post Contains Spoilers About The Plot Of The POWER RANGERS Reboot*

..

.

A couple of weeks ago I shared a couple of fan theories about Dean Israelite’s upcoming Power Rangers reboot with you, and the response was fairly rabid. People all over the web read the theories and said, “This HAS to happen!” Jammer and I were even entreated by the good folks over at the Medium Popcorn Podcast to make sure it’s a thing, because everyone wants it to be a thing!

Both theories centered on the same thing: Rita Repulsa and The Green Ranger.

One variation said she was going to create The Green Ranger using what-looked-like a green power coin at the end of her staff, and the other was that she was The Green Ranger from an older iteration of the Power Rangers team.

Now, according to The Wrap, we’re finding out that the second option- which was the more compelling one- is actually true:

“Elizabeth Banks’ Rita Repulsa is 65 million years old and is a former Green Ranger gone rogue.”

Back when I first reported this Power Rangers theory, fans applauded it because they felt it would instantly make Rita a more compelling villain and even add some gravitas to her feud with Zordon. As a former Ranger, who was frozen in time by Zordon for committing some mysterious atrocity, it adds a whole other level of intrigue to the character- who’s usually depicted as nothing more than some sort of Wicked Witch of The West ripoff.

But the crazy details don’t end there!

So I just mentioned Zordon, right? Turns out he’s also a former Power Ranger. See, back in the day, he was The Red Ranger

Another big revelation in The Wrap’s report has to do with Rita’s vengeful plot in Power Rangers. Apparently, she’s going to be trying to resurrect Goldar! Here’s what they said on the matter:

“Goldar’s molecular essence is scattered around the globe after he was vaporized into a cloud of microscopic gold particles in the opening action sequence on Ancient Earth. Rita Repulsa collects gold to resurrect Goldar… and the Rangers have just 71 hours to stop her.”

Another major plot element mentioned in the report was how something called The Zeo Crystal factors into everything:

“The Zeo Crystal is an artifact that channels the Morphing Grid —  a dimension that weaves through all things and what gives the “Power Rangers” their power. The crystal was hidden on Earth to keep it out of the hands of those who would use it as a weapon.”

And, see, that’s where Goldar comes into play:

“The Zeo Crystal is protected by a force field. Anything that comes in contact with it is vaporized. Goldar was created with a single purpose — to penetrate the force field and steal the crystal.”

So there you have it. Up until now, not a whole hell of a lot was known about what the Power Rangers reboot from Saban would be about, but now we seem to have some rather definitive plot details.

What do you think?

Power Rangers comes out on March 24, 2017.
