IRON FIST Writer Working On The Marvel/Hulu Series RUNAWAYS

You know the House of Mouse likes to keep things in the family. I know a good number of people over at Disney, and it’s one of those places that once you’re foot is in the door, you have a real potential to rise from within. While I can’t necessarily speak as to whether or not that culture extends to its subsidiaries, I’m certain it does to some degree, especially on the TV front.

We haven’t seen a whole lot from Netflix’s upcoming series Iron Fist just yet, but if Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and (based on early reviews) Luke Cage are any indication, we may be in for a real unique treat. However, there seems to be some news that may be our first indication that Marvel Entertainment is pleased with the work done on Iron Fist.

On Twitter, someone by the name of Tamara Becher, a TV writer who has worked on such shows as Warehouse 13 and Covert Affairs — not to mention Iron Fist, if we’re to trust her word on her Twitter account, as that particular project is not yet on her IMDB filmography — took a photo of a Runaways volume and stated the following:

Given this information, we can infer two things. One, Tamara Becher has been hired as one of the writers of the upcoming Runaways Marvel/Hulu series. Two, Marvel was happy enough with the work she did on Iron Fist to hire her for yet another job. If this is indeed true, this is good news. While I can’t say I know a whole lot about Becher’s work, it’s always comforting whenever studios go back to proven talent. Clearly there was something the studio enjoyed from her, and if that’s the case, we’ll have a chance to look forward to more of when Runaways hits Hulu.

If you’re unfamiliar with Runaways, below is the synopsis for the comic book source material:

“They were six normal teenagers linked only by their wealthy parents’ annual business meeting…until a chance discovery revealed the shocking truth: their parents are the secret criminal society known as the Pride! For years, the Pride controlled all criminal activity in Los Angeles, ruling the city with an iron fist…and now, with their true natures exposed, the Pride will take any measures necessary to protect their organization – even if it means taking out their own children! Now on the run from their villainous parents, Nico, Chase, Karolina, Gertrude, Molly and Alex have only each other to rely on.”

What do you think of this news? Does this give you more faith in the upcoming Iron Fist series? Let us know in the comments down below!

Iron Fist is set to hit Netflix in 2017.
