So it looks like the on-again/off-again relationship between Jack Bauer and Hollywood may be back on! Following 24's successful, limited series return, 24: Live Another Day, TVLine is reporting that a big screen adaptation is being looked at again. But there could be some hangups, if 20th Century Fox's TV cousin decides it wants more Bauer action on the small screen
Let's back up a bit.
Last winter, while out stumping Live Another Day, series star Kiefer Sutherland revealed that talk of a movie had not yet been abandoned. "The film’s an ongoing situation. There’s always an opportunity to do that," he said.
Now fast forward to yesterday, when TVLine reported that its sources had heard that interest in the project had been renewed thanks to the positive buzz surrounding 24: LAD. According to them, Imagine Chairman Brian Grazer is very keen on the current pitch. But the site cautions that Fox Networks Group Chairman Peter Rice may create quite an obstacle for a big screen take on the series, since he doesn't seem to think he's done playing with it on the small screen.
"I’ve always been a fan. We haven’t had a specific conversation about it coming back yet, but I’m sure we will in the future," Rice said in July. He also added, "It’s a wonderful franchise. When you look at the show itself, it has many more stories to tell. I think we need to sit down and talk to the creators."
So what do you think? Where should be the next Jack Bauer adventure take place- On the Big or Small Screen? Or is it just time to put the old goat out to pasture?
