Jason Blum Supernatural Thriller Series Gets Pilot Order By NBCUniversal Cable

The supernatural thriller, Run for Your Life, from Universal TV and Blumhouse Television, has just been ordered for a pilot by NBC Universal Cable Entertainment’s Entertainment Networks Group. The company consists of USA and Syfy, so as of right now, it’s unclear on which network they hope to run the series.

The series is set to take place on the final night of Día de los Muertos, and it follows “a grieving detective” who is “thrust into a deadly game to bring someone back from the dead.” It seems like an interesting premise, and if it gets to order, it’ll be cool to see a series that revolves around a Mexican holiday on the small screen.

Executive producing the series are Chris Cullari and Jennifer Raite, who are best known for the YouTube Red miniseries, 12 Deadly Days. On board to direct and co-executive produce the pilot is Mexican filmmaker Patricia Riggen, best known for The 33, as well as the upcoming Jack Ryan TV series.

On board to star in the series is a mostly Latino cast that includes Josh Segarra (Arrow), Andrew Jacobs, Carlos Leal (The Last Ship), Danube Hermosillo, Angela Alvarado, Jennifer Landon, Kadeem Hardison, and Fernanda Andrade.

Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions has been bringing scares to the big screen for quite some time now (and if you can believe it, they’ve also made some coin off publishing horror books as well). Earlier this year, Blumhouse Television was announced. With that announcement came a couple series, including a Purge series.
