Jessica Jones Season 2 To Bring Back David Tennant As Kilgrave

Over the last couple years, Marvel Studios has done a better job of making memorable villains in their movies than in years past — this year has been especially good in that regard with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming. That being said, they still haven’t been able to match the baddies that have populated the Marvel Netflix world. With the likes of Kingpin in Daredevil, Cottonmouth in Luke Cage, and of course, Kilgrave in Jessica Jones, they’ve managed to create wonderful, three-dimensional villains that the films could only dream of (in all fairness, they get a lot more screen time to develop them).

Sadly, the closing episode of Jessica Jones Season 1 saw Jessica snap the neck of the chillingly demented Kilgrave, played by David Tennant. There’s no doubt about it — the dude deserved to die — but the dynamic between him and Jessica was so captivating, that it was a shame to lose someone like that for future seasons. Or so we thought. Now, from the looks of it, rumors of Kilgrave’s death may have been greatly exaggerated.

Now, of course, the big question here is…how? Will Kilgrave simply be returning in flashback scenes, or is he actually back to try and win Jessica’s affection yet again? If it is the former, you can count us as a bit disappointed, though it would make sense. If it’s the latter, then you can count us confused. As viewers of Season 1 will note, his neck was very clearly snapped…at least that’s what they want us to think.

The power of the Purple Man’s abilities cannot be underestimated, and it’s very possible that they can write off that death as some sort of illusion he concocted in an attempt to get away from Jessica to fight another day. I’m personally torn if this is the case. If it was some big trick, it only undermines the credibility of deaths in the universe, and constantly brings things into question. That being said, he was an AMAZING presence in that first season, and I welcome the opportunity to see Tennant grace the show once again as one of the most terrifying villains realized on the small screen in the Marvel universe thus far.

What do you think? Are you excited to see Kilgrave return, or are you as doubtful as us? Let us know your thoughts down below!

Jessica Jones Season 2 will hit sometime next year.
