I guess that Hollywood has a way of keeping their stars looking 20 years younger than they actually are, and I would go with the urban legend that “black don’t crack” here if it wasn’t for the fact that Keanu Reeves does not look like he has aged more than Laurence Fishburne has after we saw them together in The Matrix. I wish I had the fame or money they have as I gaze into the mirror and notice my crow’s feet and white hair sneaking into my beard. Ahhh well, either way it is cool to see these two back on the screen together in very similar roles that they had in that cult classic.
Take a look-see.
So, I must say I was completely shocked at just how much I liked the first John Wick. The “shoot-em-up” movie was very well done, provided wonderful characters, and the ending was not bad. I think I am only disappointed that we will not get to see the sultry Adrianne Palicki playing Ms. Perkins in the sequel as she got a 4-way cross-shot MDK after she broke the hotel’s rules of no violence. This of course was initiated by the hotel “The Continental’s” proprietor played by Ian McShane, and even though we get no more Palicki we do get Deadwood’s great McShane to reprise his role.
All the actors in John Wick: CHAPTER 2 have kept a tight lip about their roles, but thanks to an interview done last year we know that Fishburne and Reeves seem to like each other and they have great onscreen chemistry.
“Yeah, Keanu and I have remained friends and we saw each other and I told him I watched the movie and loved it. He was about to start the movie again and I was like, ‘Yo, man, you gotta talk to Chad and tell him that your boy Fish wants to come get down,’ because I really wanted to be a part of it. They found something for me to do, and it was really cool.”
So will Fishburne play a hugerole? It is possible, or he could just be one of Wick’s buddies in this film only to turn against him at the end. That would be my guess, but we shall have to wait and see.
Do you think this will be as good as the first film, or will this be another failed sequel attempt? Could this grow into a 6+ movie franchise?? What do you think?
