Jon Favreau And Dave Filoni Tease Showing The Rise Of The First Order In The Mandalorian

Just under two months now and Star Wars fans will have the franchise’s first live-action television series in The Mandalorian. The series will be set seven years after Return of the Jedi and will star Pedro Pascal as the titular gunslinger.

Considering the setting, the show has an opportunity to show fans how the First Order rose to power. Both creator Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni spoke with Entertainment Weekly and teased the idea that fans may get a glimpse of the rise of The Empire II. You can check out what they had to say below.

Jon Favreau:

“What could happen in the 30 years between celebrating the defeat of the Empire and then the First Order? You come in on Episode VII, [the First Order are] not just starting out. They’re pretty far along…So somehow, things weren’t necessarily managed as well as they could have been if [the galaxy] ended up in hot water again like that.”

Dave Filoni:

“This doesn’t turn into a good guy universe because you blew up two Death Stars. You get that the Rebels won and they’re trying to establish a Republic, but there’s no way that could have set in for everybody all at once. You have in a Western where you’re out on the frontier and there might be Washington and they might have some marshals, but sometimes good luck finding one.”

While it likely won’t be a huge part of the show, it would be nice to see key pieces of information on how the The First Order rose from the remnants of the Galatic Empire. We may be instore for other surprises along the way, though they may be small peaks, but surely some other easter eggs are on the wall as well.

With Favreau and Filoni being the ones behind this series I have high hopes for it, and the recent trailer has only magnified those feelings. This series alone sold me on Disney+.
