2011 brought the hyper-violent, yet slow-paced film DRIVE to the big screen. What was initially advertised as something of an action film turned out to be more of a character piece and love note to 1980s driving films. 

Director Nicolas Winding Refn is at it again, this time taking on the horror genre in his latest film, THE NEON DEMON. The film stars Elle Fanning, Keanu Reeves, Jena Malone, and Christina Hendricks.

“One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women,” Refn said in a press release over a year ago. “Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty. After making Drive and falling madly in love with the electricity of Los Angeles, I knew I had to return to tell the story of THE NEON DEMON. This movie is a manifestation of the strong ties between us and will lead to many more adventures.”

“When aspiring model Jesse moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.”
