A couple years ago, JOHN WICK pretty much blew everyone away. As much as many loved Keanu Reeves, he isn't necessarily the most dynamic of actors. But with this action flick, he managed to find a role that catered to all his strengths. What's more, the fight scenes were amazing, the emotions more than serviceable, and the mythology intriguing. JOHN WICK seemed perfect for a sequel, and that's exactly what we're getting.
Work for JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 has been underway, and before the CinemaCon awards, Reeves managed to have a chat with Collider and talk about whether or not they have anything in store for fans after the sequel.
Here's what Reeves had to say:
“I love John Wick. We had an amazing time making this story. I can’t say that we’re not geeked about continuing the idea and the character. We have some really cool ideas. We talk about what would be cool to take it to the next level.”
This will likely come as good news to many fans. While Hollywood isn't necessarily in need of more sequels, the first JOHN WICK movie seemed like a perfect springboard for a character-driven franchise. Of course, before we get too carried away, we'll need to see if CHAPTER 2 is any good. But if it is as great as well all hope, JOHN WICK may be a franchise that'll be around for a long while.
Below is the official synopsis for JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2:
"Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers. Lionsgate’s JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 arriving in theaters on February 10, 2017."
