Kevin Feige Says Marvel-Con Is A Possibility

In speaking with Fandango, the man behind Marvel, studio president, Kevin Feige, said there have been discussions in the past about Marvel getting its own convention, much like the gathering for Star Wars fans known as Star Wars Celebration:

“Over the years there have been discussions about that. I think what we try to do occasionally in San Diego we’re very proud of and think is a fun tradition. That being said, I think [Star Wars] Celebration is pretty amazing. I’ve been to a few Celebrations and the idea of doing something like that … I think we have enough content, and enough fans, and enough ideas that we could easily do something like that, I’m just not sure where or when.”

To me, the when seems like it would be a much bigger issue than the where. With Marvel’s slate of upcoming films, and the actors busy working on those films, it may prove difficult to find the right time to have the event. It wouldn’t be a Marvel-Con without at least a few of the bigger names in attendance. While location is everything, Marvel’s brand is accepted everywhere and finding a venue wouldn’t be the problem, but finding the right venue is key.

This one seems like a no brainer to me, I don’t really understand why a Marvel-Con isn’t already a thing, especially since they are owned by the same company that owns Star Wars, Disney. Marvel has plenty of fans, films and brand loyalty to support such an event, and a gathering like this is likely to bring it loads of money for the company.
