We have to admit, the ecosystem they created over at the LEGO Movie land is quite the amazing one. Due to the nature of their licensing, they’re able to bring together more properties than you can shake a stick at. Heck, back in the original LEGO Movie in 2014, they managed to introduce the Justice League to the big screen before the legit Justice League, which is still forthcoming later this year. Now, with The LEGO Batman Movie, we’ll be getting an in-depth look at the lonely life of Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. the Batman.
While Batman is a pretty cool character in and of himself, he’s nothing without his rogues gallery of baddies. Perhaps more than any other superhero out there, Batman is known for his memorable villains that range from The Joker to Bane and Mr. Freeze. Given the very nature of the LEGO Movie franchise, it was expected that the Caped Crusader may be going up against more than one villain, but the one they’ve pushed so far has been none other than the Clown Prince of Crime himself, Joker, played by Zach Galifianakis. But who else can we expect to see on the villain front in the film apart from him and Harley Quinn?
Sit tight, because it’s a long list.
Thanks to a. New report from Collider, we now know that in addition to the Joker, Batman will also be going up against The Riddler (Conan O’Brien), Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz), Clayface (Kate Micucci), and Poison Ivy (Riki Lindhome). Also, if you got a kick out of Superman and Green Lantern from the first LEGO Movie, you’ll be happy to hear that Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are reprising their roles as that same odd couple.
In addition to those members of the rogues gallery, however, the film will have Batman facing foes from outside his own world.
If you don’t wish to be spoiled by this surprise, then it’s probably best to stop reading now.
The villains in this movie include non-Batman characters such as Voldemort (Eddie Izzard), King Kong (Seth Green), and Sauron (Jemaine Clement). That’s right. Sauron’s going to be in this movie. Will he be in eye form or physical form? That we couldn’t say.
All in all, this film that is The LEGO Batman Movie is shaping up to be quite the party!
Below is the synopsis for the film.
"In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble—LEGO Batman—stars in his own big-screen adventure.
But there are big changes brewing in Gotham City, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up."
The LEGO Batman Movie opens up this Friday!
