12 YEARS A SLAVE, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, and THE JUNGLE BOOK actress Lupita Nyong'o is currently in talks to join the BLACK PANTHER movie, THR reports.
The momentum never seems to slow down for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In their most recent film, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, Black Panther was a character that audiences were introduced to on the big screen for the very first time. While there was already plenty to talk about without Black Panther, he certainly did a lot to make an impact on fans.
This is great news for Marvel, as they plan on utilizing this character once more in the standalone film, BLACK PANTHER, from director Ryan Coogler (CREED). Reprising the role of Black Panther (a.k.a. T'Challa) is Chadwick Boseman. Details of the film have been quite sparse. When last we heard, they're still working on the script.
Nyong'o joining the film wouldn't be that big of a surprise. Given the two recent blockbusters she's starred for Disney, it makes sense that she'd eventually show up in a Marvel film at some point.
There is no word yet on who she could be playing, but it seems likely she may be playing T'Challa's love interest. Under normal circumstances, that would likely be Storm of the X-Men, but seeing as Fox owns the rights to that character, the more likely bet is Monica Lynne, a singer who later becomes T'Challa's fiancée.

BLACK PANTHER hits theaters on February 16, 2018.
