“Assassin Creed” has hit its mark.
Actress Marion Cotillard signed on for an unknown role for the live-action video-game adaptation movie “Assassin’s Creed.” The film is directed by Justin Kurzel and to star Michael Fassbender.
According to Deadline, the studio is keeping her role mysterious and under wraps for now. It is also noted her role may span over several films if “Assassin’s Creed” becomes a multi-film franchise.
It will be a reunion between Cotillard and Fassbender since acting together in the soon to be released “Macbeth.”
Ubisoft’s “Assassin’s Creed” video games have sold over 91 million units and it’s one of the company’s most successful video game franchise. Each version of a video game has a protagonist from different time periods who could blend into crowds, climb buildings and kill their targets swiftly.
It is not known which storyline the film may adapt.
Production will begin early this fall for a release next year on December 21st.
