Mark Hamill Clarifies A Theory About Luke Skywalker

*Minor Spoilers follow below*

While we are still more than a month away from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, international synopses and odd character placements on the film’s posters have some fans a bit confused about exactly what is going on in the film.

Who is on what side? Has Luke Skywalker turned to the darkside? The Jedi Master himself, Mark Hamill, recently spoke with Disney Rewards Insider (via ComingSoon), and gave us some inside information as to what is going on with Luke. No, he has not gone to the Dark Side:

“In ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Luke has lost confidence in his ability to make good choices, It haunts him to the core. But he hasn’t gone to the Dark Side. This isn’t an evil version of him. But it’s still an incarnation of the character I never expected. It has pulled me out of my comfort zone. It’s a real challenge.”

This sort of meek version of Luke that Hamill is describing was probably the further thing from our minds, but I do find it an interesting way to go. Although, it is a bummer to learn that after 30 years Luke doesn’t have it all figured out, but that wouldn’t make for a very interesting story, now would it?

This movie may turn out to be a musical chairs of sides of the force. Rey appears to be scared and angry, and her being in this unstable mental state in turn puts Luke himself on edge. The trailers have shown that Kylo still has some redeeming qualities left, or at least that is what Disney wants us to believe. I really hope Disney takes some chances this time and really explores the both sides of the Force.

Who is going to switch sides in the film? Let us know in the comments down below!
