Marvel’s Avengers Game: Creative Lead Says Designs Will Not Be Changed – Explains More About Cap’s Fate

At the weekend we were given our first look into Marvels’ Avengers, the new video game from Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix when it was revealed at E3. Then only yesterday I wrote about Marvel Games VP saying they were listening and reacting to fans complaints about character design, indicating there would be time to change things before launch in May 2020.

Now a report today from IGN has Crystal Dynamics Creative Lead, director and writer Shaun Escayg saying that these designs will not be changed before launch. Check out the quote below.

“We are always listening to, and welcome feedback from our community. There are currently no plans to change our character designs.”

That does seem to run contrary to what Marvel Games Vice President and Creative Director Bill Roseman had said. You can check Roseman’s comments in the related article below.

So will the designs be changed, or will they remain the same and the character models themselves (one of the major complaints) will be beefed up a little? That seems to be what they are saying, so if you don’t like the general design of Thor, Cap and the rest, then it doesn’t look like anything is going to be changed before release. However, hopefully they will work on the general quality of those models because as I’ve said already, Black Widow looks like a man’s face on a female body to me, and as one of our readers (Kronx) pointed out in yesterday’s article, “Captain America looks like Bill Pullman if he’d been an alcoholic trying to clean up for a job interview.” I liked that one Kronx.

Escayg also had more to say about the fact that trailer showed Cap being killed off and yet him being one of the playable characters in the game, check it out.

“Well, Cap went down with the ship, The Avengers’ leader is Cap. The guy who always is logical, who always is able to bring this dysfunctional family together. Without him, how do they cope? This is part of the set-up, part of the conflict. It’s, to me, the most exciting part of the story. What do the Avengers do without their beloved Captain? You’ll understand more once you play the game, the Marvel universe is huge. Will it resolve in this game? Who knows? Is this something else? Who knows? The things that we draw from, it’s so big. We can pull from multiverses at this point.”

So, pretty much Cap did die and the Avengers cannot lead themselves without him so they somehow get another version of Cap to lead them? Hopefully one that looks less like an alcoholic version of Bill Pullman on his way to a job interview.

What do you think of this latest news about Marvel’s Avengers, are you ok with the characters as long as the game play works like me, or are you still crying from being made to look at that version of Black Widow? Sound off in the usual spot below as always.
