2017 looks to be quite the big one for Marvel Television. In addition to the ambitious Inhumans TV series at work over at ABC, things will be heating up on the Netflix front. 2015 saw the arrival of Daredevil and Jessica Jones to the streaming service, and 2016 cemented the overall quality of the superheroes with Season 2 of Daredevil and the release of Luke Cage. The direction of these overarching franchises was no fluke. Like the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the film front, these shows were the real deal, and the next year is set to kick it to a whole new level with the release of Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders.
Of those, the biggest one of note, is obviously The Defenders. We’ve seen aspects of our core four superheroes’ worlds cross over into each other shows — namely Luke Cage’s role in Season 1 of Jessica Jones and Claire Temple in every show thus far — but we have yet to see them actually share the screen all at once.
EW looked to break that silence with a recent cover shoot between the Fabulous Four (just wait, that name will stick). You can check out the product cover down below!
In addition to the cover itself, they also posted a video chronicling the photo shoot itself. But that’s not all. The video also contains one-on-ones with each of the core four supers explaining just who their characters are for those uninitiated. Obviously, Iron Fist has yet to hit the small screen, so actor Finn Jones’ comments are the only new bits of information TV fans will be getting here. It’s nothing new to those familiar with the character, but to those who’ve only caught the show, his comments serve as their first real intro the super.
“The Iron Fist is like an energy force, and certain people, once they’re trained up in a certain way, are able to channel it and harness it. And Danny Rand is one of them.â€
In addition to the cover, EW confirms that this anticipated team-up will occur this summer, so make sure you’re ready!
