Momoa Talks Being An Anti-Hero

Transient

Jason Momoa must be loving all the free publicity lately. It couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. He’s currently out promoting his latest film, a passion project of his, Road to Paloma, which he directed, co-wrote, and stars in. The film, which might not have much buzz otherwise, is getting plenty of attention now because everywhere Momoa goes, he’s dogged by questions about his involvement with a certain DC tentpole that’s on the horizon. Regardless of whether or not the rumors or true, Momoa likely couldn’t be happier with the timing of it all.

So here we have a clip of yet another interview where Momoa dances around the topic of playing a superhero (with reports claiming he’s lined up to play Aquaman in Batman v Superman and subsequent Justice League films). This time, he talks more about his natural inclinations, and what he thinks he’d be best suited for if he were to take a job like that.

Here’s his very eloquent quote on the matter:

“I think it would be really, really fun to play a superhero. You know? I’ve always talked about, like, ‘what’s your favorite?’ I mean I love Lobo so…but ah… You know. It would be awesome. I don’t know how they do it but… Yea, absolutely I think it would…I just don’t really see myself as a superhero. Yeah, no I mean, they’re kind of written a little different. I don’t know. I just… you know. I’m not wearing a lot of the…I don’t see myself in tights a lot. And ah…I’m more of a, I don’t know, an anti-hero if you will. In life. So, not the smiling, parading to saving the world kind of guy. Yeah, the Hulk would have been fun!”

Funny how he remains so non-committal, despite so many sites claiming it’s practically a done deal. I’d almost believe the rumors more if he were flat out denying them- cause we know in this modern age actors have been instructed to flat out lie and deny everything. You can tell they’re coached on how to handle the media, and are given confidentiality agreements to sign. Momoa’s answers these last few weeks lack any of that polish, and just seem like a guy having fun- and milking for all it’s worth- what somebody cooked up on their computer somewhere.

It would be a quasi-genius move if the rumor came from his own camp, just to stir a frenzy that would help elevate his status and promote his new movie, don’t you think?

We’ll see how this plays out in the weeks and months to come.
