Netflix has given us our first look at their upcoming film starring Zach Galifianakis titled, Between Two Ferns: The Movie. It is being directed by Scott Aukerman, who also was a writer for the film alongside Galifianakis. Both of them are also producers along with Funny Or Die’s Mike Farah and Caitlin Daley. You can check out the trailer above as well as the first promo art for the film below!

As you can see, the trailer begins with an interview with Matthew McConaughey that goes from bad to worse, starring with a small leak in the ceiling to almost killing the A-list celebrity that kicks off Galifianakis’s road trip to conduct interviews to save his show. Here is the official synopsis provided by Netflix:

Zach Galifianakis dreamed of becoming a star. But when Will Ferrell discovered his public access TV show “Between Two Ferns” and uploaded it to Funny Or Die, Zach became a viral laughing stock. Now Zach and his crew are taking a road trip to complete a series of high-profile celebrity interviews and restore his reputation. Directed by Scott Aukerman, and produced by Funny Or Die’s Mike Farah and Caitlin Daley, and Aukerman and Galifianakis, BETWEEN TWO FERNS: THE MOVIE is a laugh-out-loud comedy that gives new insight into the curmudgeonly, beloved outsider Zach Galifianakis has created over the years.

Between Two Ferns: The Movie is backed up by a long list of celebrity cameo appearances starting with McConaughy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Peter Dinklage, Chrissy Teigen, David Letterman, Jason Schwartzman, Tiffany Haddish, Paul Rust, Paul Rudd, Rashida Jones, John Legend, Adam Scott, Brie Larson, Jon Hamm, Awkwafina, Hailee Steinfeld, John Cho, Keanu Reeves, Chance the Rapper, and others.

At this point we know what kind of comedy we are in store for with Galifianakis and the fact that this is being released on the streaming service makes it easy to watch it without the pressure of making the decision to go to the theater.
