New Mummy Trailer Teaser & Poster: The Mummy Awakens

It’s easy to rag on today’s over-infatuation with shared universes, but there are plenty of instances where it’s actually a great thing. Marvel found a way to capitalize on it, and we’re of the opinion that their films are the better for it (you couldn’t have a Captain America: Civil War without it), and while DC is still working the kinks out of everything, there is still a whole lot of benefit that world can get from having those worlds connected.

One universe that is set to kick off this year is another one that has the potential for great benefits — Universal’s monsters universe (not to be confused with Warner Bros’ and Legendary’s own MonsterVerse, which has Godzilla and King Kong). The monsters I’m referring to are more the Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, and of course, Mummy — none of which we haven’t seen in a good while (at least not in top form).

It’s been some time since The Mummy has finished production, and several months since the original teaser trailer, but now Universal is nearing the release for yet another trailer for this brand new reimagining.

In anticipation of this new trailer, they’ve released both a new poster and a new teaser. Now all we have to do is wait until Sunday…

Check out the trailer teaser and poster below:

The official synopsis for The Mummy is below:

Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy

Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

Are you excited to see the new trailer this Sunday? Let us know in the comments down below!

The Mummy hits theaters on June 9, 2017.
