New ‘X-MEN’ Photo Hints At Taylor Swift Cameo in ‘APOCALYPSE’?

The X-MEN universe is a vast one. There are tons of mutants who have yet to grace the screen, and in some ways, that’s what makes the world so exciting to fans. With every new film, there’s a good possibility one of the dozens of characters will show up in some capacity or another. It’s also one of the potential weaknesses of the films. With so many character on screen, it’d be easy to lose sight of who really matters in the overall story.

Luckily for us, that hasn’t been the case in recent years. Ever since X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, we’ve been treated to some pretty solid mutant action, but that doesn’t mean the filmmakers don’t have fun throwing in the occasional strange mutant cameo.

It looks like we may be in for one of the strangest cameos of all in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. In a recent post on Twitter from actress Sophie Turner, who plays Jean Grey in the upcoming film, she hints at a certain pop star making her way into the X-MEN universe.

Obviously, this shows Jean, Cyclops, and Jubilee (who you can see in the background), perusing through a record store. Cyclops is holding up a record of a character named Dazzler (a.k.a. Alison Blaire). For those unfamiliar, Dazzler is a mutant with the ability to control sound waves, and if that isn’t Hannah Montana enough for you, she also moonlights as a pop star, shown in the photo.

What’s super curious is the quote from Turner in the tweet, where she references 1989. The reference made in the tweet may be easy to miss for those not up on their pop culture-ness, but it appears to be a reference to musical artist Taylor Swift’s album, 1989.

If you’ll recall, in July of last year, producer Simon Kinberg tweeted of photo of him, James McAvoy, Sophie Turner, and Taylor Swift.

The rumors sparked immediately that Swift may play Dazzler, but they were immediately rebuffed by Kinberg himself.

However, the latest tweet from Turner seems to at least tease that the woman in the photo can be a made-up Taylor Swift. This doesn’t mean the singer will actually appear in the film, but it could be a cool nod to the canon material for knowing fans — or it can be a pivotal plot point of a great magnitude. We’ll have to wait and see.

Do you think that’s Taylor Swift in the photo? If so, how much of Dazzler can we expect from her in the flick? Let us know in the comments down below!
