Movie fans may have not yet had a taste of David Ayer’s upcoming film SUICIDE SQUAD, but like many big directors in the business, he’s already looking ahead to his next big project. The film is entitled BRIGHT, and it is a Netflix production already has big names Will Smith and Joel Edgerton attached to it, which is no small feat.
Now in talks to join the talent is Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, Variety reports. Fans likely recognize the actress from the Swedish version of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO and PROMETHEUS. There’s no doubt that she’ll be a great addition to the cast.
As far as the story and tone, BRIGHT Is being described as a supernatural cop film, in the vein of END OF WATCH. A couple months back, THR reported the premise as follows:
“In BRIGHT, the setting is a world where magical creatures live side by side with humans and the police have a division handling crimes involving magic. A human cop (Smith) is forced to work with an Orc (Edgerton) to find something that unsavory elements are prepared to kill for — a powerful wand.”
BRIGHT is written by Max Landis, and as such, it’s likely to have an off-kilter, genre-busting comedic edge to it. The film is set to begin production this fall.
