Oakes Fegley to Star in ‘Pete’s Dragon’ Remake

For Pete’s sake, they finally found the star for “Pete’s Dragon” remake.

According to Variety, young child actor Oakes Fegley will play the lovable orphan Pete who has an invisible green drage Elliot as a best friend.

Fegley can be seen in “This Is Where I Leave You” with Jason Bateman and Tina Fey, which is currently in theaters. He also played young Eli Thompson on the final season of HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire.”

In addition, Oona Laurence is also signed on as a newly created character named Natalie, who is another on of Pete’s friends. The young actress has done a few short films and received a Tony for Broadway’s “Matilda.”

The Disney remake will be a blend of both live-action and CGI. David Lowery will helm the project from a script written by Toby Halbrooks.
