Pedro Pascal in Negotiations to Play Pontius Pilate in ‘Ben-Hur’

Even more “Ben-Hur” news.

On the same day with Gal Gadot in talks for the leading lady role in “Ben-Hur,” Deadline discovered HBO’s “Game of Thrones” actor Pedro Pascal is also in negotiations for a part. The site claims he’ll be playing Pontius Pilate, who will play a significant role in the remake of the film.

The site also indicated the “Ben-Hur” remake will be closer to the 1889 Lew Wallace novel with a certain parallel to the Jesus Christ storyline rather than the 1959 film with Charlton Heston.

If everything works out, he’ll join Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell, Morgan Freeman and perhaps Gal Gadot. Production will begin early next year with a release date on February 26, 2016.

Pascal played Oberyn Martell or Red Viper of Dorne on the “Game of Thrones. And of course, he had an impressive arena battle in a fight to the death that would just make one’s head explode.
