Pirates: Paul McCartney Gets His Own Poster

A new character poster for Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was shared by Paul McCartney via Twitter on Saturday.  The poster features an unnamed character to be played by legendary musician, Sir Paul McCartney.

Not to be outdone by fellow music icon, the indestructible Keith Richards, who has twice played Jack Sparrow’s father, Captain Teague, McCartney joined the cast of the film just over a year ago.

McCartney’s character is listed on IMDB as being ‘jail guard 2’, however, it’s possible this could be covering the character’s real name for a surprise reveal. It seems unlikely that Disney would go to the trouble to bring in someone as famous as McCartney and give him the role that could be easily handled by an extra.

Take a look at the photo below!

The new high seas adventure features everyone’s favorite captain, Jack Sparrow, played of course by Johnny Depp, who finds himself in quite the pickle. Captain Salazar, the notorious — and no longer alive — pirate killer played by Javier Bardem, has escaped from the Devil’s Triangle, and leads a small army of ghost pirates in his quest for revenge on Sparrow.

Franchise favorite Geoffrey Rush is once again set to play Captain Barbossa, as well as Kevin McNally, who reprises his role as Captain Jack’s loyal first mate, Joshamee Gibbs.

Returning to the film series after sitting out the fourth installment are Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom, bringing back their characters, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. When we last saw the couple at the end of the third Pirates film, Will, now charged with the duty of ferrying souls to the next world, was spending his one day on land (he is allowed one day on land for every decade at sea) visiting with Elizabeth and their son.

Newcomers set to board ship are Kaya Scodelario, Brendon Thwaites, and David Wenham.

Sporting beads, dreadlocks, and eyeshadow, McCartney’s character certainly has a lot of Sparrowesque qualities about him. Is it possible he could be an Uncle of Jack’s? Perhaps the brother of Keith Richards’s Captain Teague?
