Ready Player One: There’s Something Seriously Wrong With The New Poster

Ready Player One recently had a brand new trailer drop, and along with it was a sleek new poster. On the surface, this isn’t half-bad.

Take a look at the poster below:

Overall, it’s not a bad first look. The colors are captivating, the “stacks” in Columbus, Ohio look at dystopian as ever, and that shape in the distant sky is ever-intriguing. It seems to have all the great elements needed to make up a cool poster.

Well, allow me to direct your attention to our main character Wade Watts on the left. Now look at his right leg. All of a sudden, it’s incredibly difficult to imagine what the character looks like standing normally, and the internet has not let their confusion go unnoticed.

However, as rough as most users on the internet were, there was at least one who came to his defense.

The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.
