It would appear MGM has seen the kind of money that films with fast cars can generate, and they want in. The studio has just inked a deal with Robert Munic to produce a film based around the world of NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing). Munic currently serves as a writer and co-executive producer on the hit television series EMPIRE, and has been tasked withwriting the racing film for MGM.
MGM has been working on a television series based on NASCAR, and producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey saw an opening to also make a film with the property. Plot details for both the TV series and the film are unknown at this time, with all that is known being that it’s set in the world of NASCAR racing.
There are no other details to report on either project as of now.
