Review: American Horror Story 1984 – “Episode 100”

The police arrived. Brooke was arrested. Margaret got away scot-free. Richard and Mr. Jingles sped away in a stolen cop car. And the souls of those that were murdered at Camp Redwood remain there, haunting the property for eternity.

In the 100th episode of American Horror Story—and the 6th episode for season 9—the clock fast forwards five years. Mr. Jingles ditched Richard when he was beaten and apprehended by a mob and started a new life in Alaska. Married, a father, and climbing the ladder at a video retail store, he has put his past behind him and started a new life. Or so he thinks.

Brooke is on death row, with all 11 counts of murder placed on her, and is just hours away from her execution. Richard, who is in the same wing as she, lends his satanic assistance to help her when she’s ready. Meanwhile, Margaret has gone on to become a real estate mogul, buying up houses and estates with dark history. Additionally, she married Trevor, who knows that she is the killer and used that information to blackmail her.

While the previous lives have attempted to move on, the souls of Montana, Ray, Xavier, and the other victims roam the Camp Redwood property. Montana and Xavier use their curse to continue murdering visitors on the territory, which leads to a police presence at the camp. In a media stunt, Margaret states that she is going to reopen the camp and have the entire location baptized to ward off the evil that resides there. Watching live, the spirits plan their revenge on her.

As Brooke takes her lethal injection, Richard prays to Satan to hear his request. After dying on the slab, Brooke’s body is brought to the morgue. There, she resurrects and is greeted by the crazed psychologist that unleashed Jingles. Back in Alaska, Jingles arrives at his home after work to find his wife brutally murdered in their bed and his baby boy crying in the closet. He finds his son and a note written on the back of a Camp Redwood baptism flyer, stating that Satan wants his revenge. Seeing his new life crumble before his eyes, Jingles leaves his son with his sister-in-law, dons his black rain slicker, grabs his key ring, and begins his journey back to the camp—ready to deliver a reckoning.
