Not too long ago, we reported on director Ridley Scott being in talks to take on the YA fantasy series The Merlin Saga. This is set to be an adaptation of the T.A. Barron novels that follow the legendary Merlin before the well-worn events that involve King Arthur (in other words…don’t worry about this being King Arthur: Legend of the Sword Part 2).
Well, in true Ridley Scott form, it doesn’t sound like the dude is messing around, and has already looked to fill in the ranks of key crew members for the Disney flick.

On board already is production designer Arthur Max, who has worked on such films as Gladiator, The Martian, and Robin Hood. Also set to re-team with Scott is Dariusz Wolski, who shot Scott’s latest film, All the Money in the World.
While Scott hasn’t officially signed on yet, these two joining the film may be an indication that Scott has indeed taken on the fantasy movie. Also of note is that the script for this film will be penned by none other than Philippa Boyens, who was one of the co-writers of the excellent Lord of the Rings films (though also a co-writer on the less excellent Hobbit films).
