Robert Downey Jr. Certainly Seems Up For Massive Marvel Movie/TV Crossover

– by Joseph Medina

In theory, the idea of a massive cross-medium Marvel Cinematic Universe seems like a great one. A world where Spider-Man and Iron Man can co-exist with Daredevil and Luke Cage? Awesome! Sign me up! That certainly seemed to be exactly what Marvel was doing when they created their first series, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., and when the Netflix-verse was announced, many fans dreamed of when AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR PART 2 would bring together everyone to take on the big bad Thanos.

But something strange started happening. Sure, things were happening in the Marvel movies that reverberated throughout the TV universe at Marvel (the destruction of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the events in THE AVENGERS are the big standouts), but the whole thing felt incredibly one-sided. Agent Coulson still isn't really alive in the films, and nothing in TV had any effect on the movies. Add into that the perceived nasty relationship between Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige and Marvel Entertainment head Ike Perlmutter, and it seemed like the lack of any real collaboration between these two worlds was a result of in-studio politics. While we could continue to imagine a movie where Tony Stark meets Matt Murdock, it didn't seem like nothing solid was ever going to materialize.

About a week ago, Jeph Loeb even told Slash Film why this epic crossover was an unlikely prospect:

"I can tell you that part of the challenge of doing this sort of thing is that the movies are planned out years in advance of what it is that we are doing. Television moves at an incredible speed. The other part of the problem is that when you stop and think about it, if I’m shooting a television series and that’s going to go on over a six-month or eight-month period, how am I going to get Mike [Colter] to be able to go be in a movie? I need Mike to be in a television show."

While the logistics of this make the entire scenario seem impossible, that hasn't kept fans from dreaming, and the likes of actor Robert Downey Jr. aren't helping douse the flames of desire. In a recent Facebook post, Downey shared a fanmade poster that teases a film with literally every single person in the MCU making a return.

Check it out below:

What do you think of the poster? Does this get you excited to see everyone come back in an upcoming AVENGERS film, or is this poster alone enough evidence to prove that a massive crossover is a terrible idea? Let us know your thoughts down below!
