Well, this whole Rock vs. Diesel story is taking an interesting turn.
A couple weeks back, actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson posted something very unsusual on his Instagram page. Per usual, he expressed his enthusiasm for being part of the Fast 8 film (no surprise there), but things took a turn when, rather than simply praising everyone for their hard work, he made a blatant — yet cryptic — callout to his male co-stars.
Check out the original post below:
“This is my final week of shooting #FastAndFurious8. There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one. An incredible hard working crew. UNIVERSAL has been great partners as well. My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right. Bottom line is it’ll play great for the movie and fits this Hobbs character that’s embedded in my DNA extremely well. The producer in me is happy about this part?. Final week on FAST 8 and I’ll finish strong. #IcemanCometh #F8 #ZeroToleranceForCandyAsses”
Most fans immediately assumed the male co-star in question was actor/producer Vin Diesel. Egos and tempers always flare on film sets, and when you have a couple of big guys like Diesel and the Rock, it seems like a confrontation like this was always inevitable.
So what new development do we have on this story?
There’s a rumor that comes from Life & Style. According to one of the outlet’s sources states that this entire feud was fabricated by both Johnson and Diesel.
“They are playing a huge prank,” the source stated. “And it’s all for publicity.”
Wrestling fans are sure to get a kick out of the next part.
“The Rock convinced Vin to amp up the drama between them so they could turn it into a WWE match to help promote the April 2017 release of Fast 8.”
That’s right, folks. If this rumor is true, it sounds like this entire charade will culminate in a wrestling match. Life & Style didn’t specify when this match would happen, but Screen Rant speculated that the feud would be settled at Wrestlemania XXXIII, which is scheduled 12 days before Fast 8‘s April 14, 2017 release date.
I won’t pretend to be a huge pro wrestling fan, but if this turns out to be true, I may have to consider checking out the match between the two. I, for one, am banking on this being true. Sure, Johnson likely has a huge ego, but he’s the kind of guy who seems to express nothing but positivity on his social media, and in all honesty, the comments toward Diesel felt incredibly out of character. This would explain that anomaly.
What do you make of this? Is this really a petty feud, or a big build-up for a Wrestlemania fight? Let us know your thoughts down below!
