RUMOR: This Character Might Not Make it Out of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

With every passing Marvel movie, one of the big questions that seems to be tossed around is “who will die?” We’re already well into this groundbreaking shared universe, and if the comics have taught us anything, it’s that there’s no such thing as a happy ending for any character. Either they’ll die in some terrible way, or as Harvey Dent put it, will “live long enough to become the villain,” and then die.

Like in real life, death in the comic books seems to be the only sure thing, and it makes sense that fans would be wondering when that aspect of the comics would transition to the big screen. Sure we’ve had some death sprinkled here and there so far, but let’s be real, no one we’ve really cared about has bit the dust just yet, and if there was any movie set to change that pattern, it would be the upcoming CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

Well, the folks over at Geek have quite the scoop. According to them, they know exactly who will die in the film, and needless to say, it’s a spoiler.

So if you’d prefer not to know who will die in the film, then I recommend you click away quickly, before it’s too late! But for those of you who wish to know, I’ll see you on the other side of the trailer below!

SPOILER ALERT!

According to Geek, the big player who won’t make it to the closing credits is: Captain America himself. That’s right, our star spangled hero seems doomed to pass on in the third film of his franchise at the hands of Crossbones.

This likely doesn’t come as a huge surprise to those who’ve read the comics, as this is exactly what happens there. It seems like a natural progression of the Captain America story, and Geek even goes on to say that another one of their sources says that Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes in the film) has even been fitted in the Captain America suit, so that would seem to be the proverbial nail in the coffin.

Like with all rumors, however, I encourage the reader to take it all with a huge grain of salt. First off, I personally find this rumor very hard to believe. First off, Cap is a character that has grown to be one of the most beloved in the MCU by many fans, and as much as we all love Marvel for the work they do, they aren’t necessarily known for breaking outside of their safe zone of storytelling. So many characters have already “died” and then come back to life in later scenes, so I’d find it hard to believe the first character they off will in fact be Mr. Steve Rogers.

In addition to these doubts, Robert Downey Jr. even said that he and Chris Evans would be off to Atlanta to shoot something, and many believed it to be the new Spider-Man flick. Of course, that’s all conjecture, and it’s very possible that RDJ straight-up lied to throw us off, but it seems highly unlikely. All that aside, I must say that if Cap does die in the film, I highly doubt it would be a permanent deal. The comics are well known for bringing characters back to life, and with AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR on the horizon, there’s no way they’d go to battle without their flagship man.

What do you think of this latest rumor? If you don’t buy it, who else do you think will die in the film? Let us know in the comments down below.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
