Joe and Anthony Russo are hard at work scouting locations for Avengers: Infinity War. The co-directors are branching out and making their first Marvel movie that isn’t in the Captain America series, having found great success with both The Winter Soldier and Civil War. Something they’ve been doing, to help fan the flames of their fandom, is they’ve been posting photos from the pre-production process for Avengers: Infinity War. They’ve just created a mystery, though, by uploading and then deleting a particular photo.
First, here are examples of the kinds of stuff they’ve been sharing these last few months, as they prepare for Avengers: Infinity War:
Nothing crazy exciting, right? Yet these photos exist, and they’re there for fans to check out. That’s what makes this next photo unique, because they put it up…and then took it down. Why?
Naturally, the internet being the internet, people are speculating all kinds of stuff because of the Russos’ reluctance to keep this photo up. Some of the crazy stuff people are saying is that this location would be a stand-in for Latveria because Marvel and Fox have made another secret deal that would bring Doctor Doom into the Marvel Cinematic Universe because of his involvement in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline from the comics.
Another- far more likely- bit of speculation is that this would actually be for a scene that takes place in Asgard. That would also explain why they took it down, because-in theory- the Russos had second thoughts about revealing that Avengers: Infinity War was going to visit Thor’s home.
That one makes the most sense to me.
Still, it’s fun to speculate. So why do you think they deleted this photo? What do you think this location will be used for, assuming they select it for Avengers: Infinity War?
