When it comes to big-budget tentpoles like Spider-Man: Homecoming, we often learn a lot about what to expect from them from the licensed action figures attached to them. They often provide insights about things like what a character will look like in the theatrical cut, or give us glimpses at alternate costumes that offer possible crumbs about the plot of the film itself.
Such seems to be the case when it comes to these new figures from Spider-Man: Homecoming. The film, in many ways, is a follow-up to Captain America: Civil War. We know it takes place after the events shown in that film, and yet it looks like we're going to get a glimpse at the costume Peter Parker (Tom Holland) wore before Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) gave him his fancy new duds in Civil War.
Included in the photos of these Spider-Man: Homecoming action figures below, you'll see not only the homemade Spidey suit, but a glimpse of Iron Man's latest armor- which seems to be a direct nod to the Ultimate line of Marvel Comics:
What do you think is the likely reason for including the homemade Spider-Man suit? Will there be a flashback to a time pre-Civil War? Is it possible that Peter will rebel against Stark, throw out the suit he gave him, and revert to the suit of his own creation before they kiss and make up just in time to go after Vulture (Michael Keaton)?
Or is it just a freakin' toy and we're reading too much into this? Sound off below!
