Spider-Man: Homecoming – Check Out The Tech Behind Spidey’s New Suit! [VIDEOS]

For a while, fans seemed to be getting sick of Spider-Man. This is, after all, a character whose origins we saw twice on the big screen in around a ten-year timespan. Coming into yet another Spider-Man film — Spider-Man: Homecoming — the studio really needed to highlight the differences between those other two Spider-Man interpretations, and this one. Right off the bat, there are a few different highlights. We have, (a) Peter Parker’s age, (b) Peter’s connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and (c), that suit, man.

The trailers have done a lot to highlight each of these three points with its high school setting and Tony Stark’s presence, but today, Sony released a little featurette that highlights the tech behind Spider-Man’s new suit. As we knew already, up until Captain America: Civil War, Peter Parker had been running around in a cheap homemade suit, and was given a brand new tech-heavy one from Stark to help take on Cap and his rogue Avengers.

Civil War has come and gone, and Stark is now in a real mentorship role for Peter, and one of the big perks is that Peter gets to keep the new suit. While we didn’t really get to see much of what a Stark Industries-made Spidey suit can do, we’ve already seen some pretty big things in the trailer. From the cling-wrap of the suit to its own A.I., it’s definitely head and shoulders above what we’ve seen from the suit in previous iterations.

Some new features revealed via the new featurette including an enhanced combat mode, a super-jump, and advanced recon mode (super-hearing). Without a doubt, Sony and Marvel Studios are continuing to do a stellar job in making this new Spider-Man feel different, and we can’t wait to see what other surprises they have in store for us.
