Star Trek: Picard Series Has Reportedly Started Production

Yeah, I’m pretty late to the game. Star Trek: Discovery may have been running for two seasons, but I haven’t found it in me to subscribe to their CBS All Access service required to check it out. It was only in my recent trip to the UK last week that I finally dipped my toe into that world, and man did I really enjoy the kind of story they were telling. Almost makes me want to pick up All Access and see what they’ll be doing with their other upcoming shows, including the new series set to follow Jean-Luc Picard of Star Trek: The Next Generation fame (though now that I’m back in the States, who knows if and when that’ll actually happen).

And whaddya know? It looks like the series has official started production, TrekMovie is reporting. While it was originally thought they’d be beginning last week, it looks like today, April 22, was the actual start date. The outlet went on to say production will take place in Southern California and will last for around five months, with an expected wrap date of September 16. There is no word yet on when it’s going to air.

Like Star Trek: Discovery, it looks like this show will be heavily serialized and will consist of 10 episodes. The Picard series isn’t the only one in the works at CBS All Access. The service is also working on an animated comedy series called Star Trek: Lower Decks, as well as a children’s series on Nickelodeon and a spin-off featuring Michelle Yeoh’s character.
