Star Wars: Early Kylo Ren Concept Art Is Reminiscent Of A Maskless Darth Vader

The end of Star Wars as we know it anyway is not far off. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters this December and with it will be an end to the saga many of us grew up watching. The film will also serve as the closing chapter to Disney’s sequel trilogy.

The trilogy’s villain, Kylo Ren, almost had a different look than the one we know today. Below you can find some concept art that would have bestowed upon the character an even more menacing look that what we all seen on screen back in December of 2015. The post comes from Christian Alzmann, a Lucasfilm concept artist and you can check it out below.

As mentioned in the post the design inspired one of the inquisitors in Star Wars Rebels, known as The Fifth Brother. Personally, I like the design that ended up on the screen, the full mask was very intimidating during the opening of The Force Awakens, and giving Kylo gray skin would have been a little too much Vader for me. Perhaps it’s simply because the version we received is what I am used to, sort of like imagining Tom Selleck as Indiana Jones.
