Star Wars: Mark Hamill On Why Luke Ignored Leia In The Force Awakens

It’s getting close folks, Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be here before we know it. The Force Awakens left us with only a small glimpse of what Luke Skywalker has been up to all these years. The Jedi Master himself, Mark Hamill recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly and talked about where Luke is mentally.

“Luke longs to have that extended family that he established in the original trilogy, but now he’s at a place in his life and in his history where he’s shunned all of that. The big question is why didn’t he respond to Leia during [The Force Awakens]? There’s a lot of things you can’t answer until you see this movie.”

We can only speculate about Luke and Leia’s relationship after Return of the Jedi, as far as this new Disney canon anyway, but Star Wars fans know that the siblings were once very close, even before knowing they were related. The two have been through some harrowing ordeals together, making Luke’s descent into exile after losing Kylo Ren all the more painful.

The last week of the Star Wars wait usually seems to be the worst, time appears to move twice as slow, but not to worry, The Last Jedi is almost here!
