There are a lot of mysteries flying around the Star Wars universe these days — at least as far as the main saga is concerned. Among the many mysteries, we still don’t know a whole lot about our leading lady Rey, the mysterious Luke Skywalker, or Kylo Ren’s true motives.
One other such mystery is that of Supreme Leader Snoke. He seems to have some strings pulling at the young Kylo Ren, but he’s still the equivalent of the Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back. While we don’t necessarily expect to see a lot of answers for this baddie, we can’t help but wonder what importance he’ll have to the plot.
Who will Snoke interact with, and will he have a meeting with Carrie Fisher’s General Leia that will cut at the heart of the Resistance? Speaking with The List, actor Andy Serkis denied any such thoughts, saying:
“I had no scenes with Carrie but I did get to know her a little bit. She was an incredible human being with a wonderful personality and she’s sadly, sadly missed and everyone who came into contact with her was really touched by her great energy and great sense of humour. She is a wonderful person and I did have a great time working with the cast and Adam Driver and Domhnall Gleeson, we’ve had some really great times on it.”
Of course, Carrie Fisher passed away late last year. She had completed her role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but it certainly did throw a wrench into things as far as Star Wars: Episode 9 went. As it stands, many fans are still wondering what her role in The Last Jedi is like, and if it will give her a fitting enough sendoff.
While Lucasfilm will likely give her the goodby she deserves, it’s a bit of a shame that she’ll never have any sort of confrontation with this trilogy’s big bad. Perhaps that’s a role Luke will have to fill down the line.
