Star Wars: The Last Jedi – What Finn Is Up To, Plus A New Ally!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens saw the appearance of more than just one hero in its runtime. In addition to the charismatic Rey, audiences also saw the likes of Finn and Poe. Yes, we want to see the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi to see what Rey and Luke are up to, but the appeal of these other characters cannot be understated.

While at Star Wars Celebration, actor John Boyega was asked by panel moderator Josh Gad if we would see the relationship between Poe and Finn continue to blossom.

“Absolutely. Poe is my boy. There’s always a new adventure for us to go on.”

It’s a vague answer, but that wasn’t all Boyega had to say. He also delved into the emotional journey his character would be going on in the film.

“In The Last Jedi, it’s a test for all the characters, but specifically for Finn. He wants to find his place now. Is going to be part of the Resistance, or is he going to keep running away from the First Order? We’ll see.”

But Finn won’t be alone. Joining him will be a brand new ally named Rose. In the true tradition of Star Wars, she comes from humble roots, and works as a maintenance worker for the Resistance.

While on the panel, Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson discussed the importance of Rose as a character, and how actress Kelly Marie Tran perfectly embodies what he’s going for in terms of theme.

“For me, growing up, one of the things as a kid in Colorado, watching these movies, you feel like — watching Luke Skywalker kind of get pulled out of — and I think that’s why people respond to Rey also — get pulled out of wherever he is, and be this unlikely hero. The notion that anyone out there, any of us, and step up and turn into a hero. Thats’ really where the character of Rose comes from. She’s not a soldier. She’s not looking to be a hero, and she gets pulled in a very big way into an adventure in this movie with Finn, and Kelly just embodies that for me.”

As far as what these two will be up to in the film, it’s hard to say. Very little was stated on the panel, so like other statements, we kind of have to look at some of our previously reported rumors. I won’t spoil them here for you, but if you’re interested, you can CLICK HERE to check out some of shenanigans Finn will be up to this time around.
