There are a couple different ways to use nostalgia in media. You can either bring back a popular property and hope to capitalize on the good time folks had at an earlier point in their life (not unlike what Star Wars, Fuller House,Girl Meets World, and X-Files have all done, too varying success), or you can use your own property to glimpse back into a bygone era and romanticize about some of its cooler aspects. The latter kind of use is less common, but it has been used effectively, as with shows like Fresh Off The Boat (which has too much fun with the ‘90s), and of course, Stranger Things.

Not only was Stranger Things a love letter to ‘80s pop culture and entertainment, it was a celebration of what it means to be a kid, and it even managed to tell a pretty cool story along the way. It managed to catch the world by storm, despite the relatively little marketing behind it. Up until its release, we had a couple trailers, posters, but not much out. And yet, less than a year later, the show has become a pop culture sensation. Look online and you can find 8-bit parodies, Peanuts parodies, memes, and the like.

Needless to say, fans are excited to catch our first glimpse of the upcoming season, and it looks like we’ll be seeing a teaser for it sooner than expected.

According to EW, the Netflix series will have a new teaser air during this weekend’s Super Bowl.

Details on the season have been spares thus far, and all executive producer Shawn Levy had to say was “The Demogorgon was destroyed but evil wasn’t.”

We’re guessing this may or may not have to do with the slugs Will was spewing out of his mouth in the closing scene of the first season. Goodness knows he may very well be in for a short second season.

That wasn’t all EW had to share. They also got to show a first image that shows our young heroes walking around their school with Ghostbusters outfits and proton packs. Oh yeah, the ’80s references will be back on full force for this next season.
