Star Wars: Supreme Leader Snoke Has A Personal Vendetta Against The Resistance

In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we got out first taste of the big bad of the trilogy, Supreme Leader Snoke. We didn’t see much of him, but his overall presence was felt.

Speaking with EW, actor Andy Serkis teased that we’d be seeing a lot more of him in the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi:

“This time you get to see him, as in his real presence. In the previous movie we saw him as this huge hologram and tele-presence, and you get to meet him in the flesh this time.”

Though the time spent with him last film was minimal, his relationships with Kylo Ren and General Hux was clear. They were his “sons” and he was the withholding father who controlled them. It looks like he’ll be amping up the hostility in the next movie.

“His training of Kylo Ren is not yielding what he wants. Therefore his anger towards Kylo Ren is intensified because he can’t bear weakness in others. Part of the manipulation is goading him with Hux and playing them off against each other.”

But what is his beef with The Resistance? Why does Snoke have it out for them, and what is he after? Is it simply power? That would make sense. After all, the Emperor was all about power in the original trilogy. Is the same with Snoke? We’re sure that has a role to play, but it sounds like that’s not the only thing on his mind.

“The thing about Snoke is that he is extremely strong with the Force, the dark side of the Force. He’s terribly powerful, of course. But he is also a very vulnerable and wounded character. He has suffered and he has suffered injury. The way that his malevolence comes out is in reaction to that. His hatred of the Resistance is fueled by what’s happened to him personally.”

What is it that Snoke took personally? Begin the speculation down below!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
