A piece of concept art that purports to be of a costume option for Daniel Bruhl's Baron Zemo in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR has landed on the web. Some fans who saw the film this past weekend were a little surprised that the character didn't look more like he does in the comics. After all, Marvel Studios has a fairly strong track record of faithfully reproducing their characters when they make the jump from page to screen.
Well, it looks like- at one point- there was a plan to have Zemo don his Helmut Zemo comic book duds. A Facebook page dedicated to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has posted this bit of concept art:
This look, indeed, would've been closer to what comic book readers are used to. But, then again, if you saw the film you'd know that there really wasn't a place for it. Bruhl's take on Zemo was much more grounded, and this purple getup would've been a tad much.
However, those of us who saw CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR know that Zemo wasn't killed off in the film. Black Panther showed mercy on the man, so he's likely locked up in some sort of super max somewhere. This means we could definitely see him again, and next time he could very well have his full comic book disguise. It'd be similar to how Brock Rumlow (Frank Grillo) was seen in basic human form in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER before going all Crossbones in CIVIL WAR.
What do you think? Would you have rather seen Zemo in all his glory? Or was the more stripped-down human version in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR enough for you? Sound off below!
