The Beguiled: Sofia Coppola Looks to Direct a Different Type of Indie Film Plus Interviews with Kirsten Dunst and Colin Farrell

Sofia Coppola has certainly made her mark with such films as Lost in Translation, Somewhere, The Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette.

In her upcoming film The Beguiled, it will be something different from her previous projects as this will be a Civil War thriller drama.

The story unfolds during the Civil War, at a Southern girls’ boarding school. Its sheltered young women take in an injured enemy soldier. As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.

The cast includes Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Oona Laurence, Angourie Rice, Emma Howard and Addison Riecke.

LRM caught up with Sofia Coppola on the red carpet at CinemaCon 2017, in which she talked about developing the story from the novel by Thomas Cullinan. She also talked about reuniting with actress Kirsten Dunst on another project.

Additionally, LRM also talked with Dunst and actor Colin Farrell at the red carpet of Focus Features event at CinemaCon.

The Beguiled will be in select cities on June 23 and expanded into more theaters on June 30.
